Principal Software Engineer (Experiences)

The Tripadvisor Group connects people to experiences worth sharing and aims to be the world’s most trusted source for travel and experiences. The Tripadvisor Experiences Engineering team is distributed across Europe and is responsible for Tripadvisor.com, the Tripadvisor mobile apps, and all their supporting infrastructure. They run systems that help operators build their businesses and enable third parties to utilize their inventory, as well as provide tools for customer services to support travelers and operators internationally.

• 10+ years of experience in commercial software development.
• Demonstrated excellence in working with cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments, including technical leadership and cross-team collaboration.
• Excellent command of tools and expertise for troubleshooting production issues.
• Experience building scalable and distributed software systems from conception to production.
• Experience with software architecture, design principles, and engineering best practices.
• Experience with AWS or Azure cloud platforms.
• Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as Java, Python, or Scala.
• Experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Exposure to the data engineering ecosystem is a significant plus.

• Drive the design and architecture of complex, scalable systems that underpin technology solutions, addressing scalability, reliability, consistency, and quality across an engineering pillar.
• Conduct design reviews at both the engineering pillar level and across the broader engineering organization.
• Lead generalizable improvements in operational maturity for the platform and promote best practices with other engineers regarding operations.
• Work closely with engineering managers, principal and senior principal engineers to drive technology strategy and roadmap aligned with the wider organization vision.
• Partner with Product Manager(s) and Engineering Manager(s) to establish clear technical delivery milestones for key initiatives and help drive delivery within agreed scope, quality, and timelines.
• Build trusted leadership by being regarded as a go-to person across a wide number of technologies, practices, and tools used in an engineering pillar.
• Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals, commitments, and timelines.

This role is open to candidates based within a commutable distance (generally up to 1.5 hours) of the Cracow office. The contract type is a permanent employment contract (Umowa o pracę).
