Senior Software Engineer / AI Generalist

Merit is a holding company that acquires, manages, and builds software businesses in niche verticals over a very long period of time. They take an AI-first approach to modernizing and expanding their portfolio, supporting investment operations and portfolio companies through an internal technology group. The engineering team operates internally and across the portfolio, tackling high-impact projects.

• Strong technical foundation with production experience in at least two modern programming languages.
• Proven ability to deliver complete systems independently.
• Experience in varied environments such as consulting, freelance, agency, or startup.
• Curiosity and hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot, Claude, LLM coding tools).
• Pragmatic, tool-agnostic mindset with ability to learn fast and adapt.
• Fluent English and clear communication skills for distributed teams.

Nice to have:

• Experience building or integrating around LLMs (OpenAI, Claude, Vertex AI, or self-hosted).
• Familiarity with DevOps and cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
• Experience mentoring developers or coordinating small teams.
• Knowledge of both modern and legacy tech stacks (.NET, Clarion, Python, React, etc.).

• Build and deploy internal tools and infrastructure for investment and portfolio teams.
• Lead or support AI-first initiatives including LLM workflows, automation, and intelligent data integration.
• Work with portfolio companies on short, high-impact projects such as testing frameworks, AI integrations, or modernization efforts.
• Evaluate and integrate new technologies pragmatically based on business needs.
• Operate across varied technology stacks including Python, .NET, TypeScript, and cloud platforms like GCP, AWS, and Azure.
• Contribute to architecture, standards, and team development as the group scales.

Position is remote but requires candidates to be Poland-based.
