Technical Lead - Home Infrastructure

Google's software engineers develop next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. The Health and Home (H&H) team, part of Google's Platforms and Devices product area, aims to improve lives across health and home domains by empowering longer, healthier lives via Fitbit, the Personal Health Coach, and AI-powered insights, and creating a home that cares for its inhabitants and the world. The Health and Home Infrastructure team maintains mission-critical, high-Queries per second (QPS) distributed systems that guarantee reliability and low-latency performance for all Home and Health services. The Health Platforms and Devices team builds products and services that help users live longer, healthier lives by combining Google technologies, AI, health behavior science, and user-centered design.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience with software development in Java or C++.
• 5 years of experience testing, maintaining, and launching infrastructure and with software design and architecture.
• 3 years of experience with developing large-scale distributed infrastructure or with storage or distributed data processing.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.

Nice to have:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
• 3 years of experience in managing an engineering team.

• Hire and grow the team in Warsaw, establish the engineering culture, and manage engineers while maintaining engineering best practices and ensuring high engineering quality.
• Develop, maintain, and ensure the reliability and low-latency performance of high-QPS distributed systems.
• Review code and provide feedback to ensure best practices, including style guidelines, accuracy, testability, and efficiency.
• Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines while managing project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Deliver the projects for Home infrastructure by ensuring high engineering quality and working collaboratively with teams in different locations.
