Senior Backend Engineer | SpringWater team | Based in Europe

SpringWater is a sister company of Hostinger, operating in the affiliate marketing software space. The company is a small international team focused on turning a strong SaaS product into a growth machine.

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience with strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails or solid Python/TypeScript skills with willingness to learn the stack.
• Strong SQL skills including writing complex queries, optimizing slow queries, and experience with PostgreSQL and BigQuery in production.
• Experience building and maintaining REST APIs and background job systems (e.g., Sidekiq, Celery) with understanding of reliability and failure handling.
• Experience building internal tooling and dashboards related to financial or affiliate data.
• Async-first, high-ownership work style with strong written communication and independent decision-making.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot.

Nice to have:

• Background in data or analytics engineering, including work with data pipelines, event tracking, or affiliate/conversion data.
• Familiarity with dbt (data build tool) or strong desire to learn it for analytics and reporting.

• Build and maintain backend features including APIs, background jobs, and integrations using Ruby on Rails, Python, or TypeScript.
• Improve and maintain data pipelines by writing reports and queries in PostgreSQL and BigQuery to ensure affiliate data accuracy.
• Build internal dashboards and reports such as payout summaries, revenue attribution, and cohort breakdowns.
• Fix performance issues including bad queries, slow background jobs, and bottlenecks to maintain system performance under load.
• Use AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor) daily to increase development speed.
• Work asynchronously with a small team, taking ownership of shipped features and monitoring them.
• Participate in technical support by running custom scripts, debugging client-specific issues, and analyzing data anomalies.
