Senior Software Engineering Manager, Flume ML

Google Cloud develops next-generation technologies impacting billions of users, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, data storage, security, AI, natural language processing, UI design, and mobile. The team in Warsaw manages a planet-scale data processing infrastructure product that supports foundational AI/ML features for YouTube, Search, and next-generation AI initiatives. The role involves leading a team to evolve distributed computing, focusing on scheduleability and auto-tuning capabilities critical for large-scale ML pipelines and data workloads.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of programming experience in C++, Java, Python, Kotlin, or Go.
• 5 years of experience in people management or team leadership.
• 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
• Experience developing and deploying large-scale distributed systems.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
• 5 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
• Experience designing and implementing Machine Learning (ML) architectures.

• Discover and implement advanced optimization techniques to enhance system auto-tuning and resource scheduling.
• Deliver fleet-wide performance improvements collaborating with partners across the company, including autonomous driving and frontier AI teams.
• Lead research into AI-driven optimization strategies for efficient and self-healing data processing.
• Recruit, manage, and coach a growing team of engineers, fostering technical excellence and professional growth.
• Provide technical guidance and collaborate with leadership and global stakeholders to align on long-term infrastructure roadmaps.
