Senior Software Engineer - Health and Home Infrastructure

Google's software engineers develop next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. The Health and Home (H&H) team, part of Google's Platforms and Devices, Product Area, aims to improve lives at scale across two key domains: Health, empowering longer, healthier lives via Fitbit, the Personal Health Coach, and AI-powered actionable insights; and Home, creating a home that cares for its inhabitants and the world. The Health Platforms and Devices team builds innovative products and services that help users live longer, healthier lives by combining Google technologies, AI, health behavior science, and user-centered design through apps, services, and health wearables.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with software development in Java or C++.
• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, and launching infrastructure, and with software design and architecture.
• 3 years of experience with developing large-scale distributed infrastructure, or experience with storage or distributed data processing.

Nice to have:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.

• Develop and maintain high-QPS distributed systems, ensuring reliability and low-latency performance.
• Lead technical trade-off analyses to evaluate competing technologies, prioritizing long-term scalability, system robustness, and operational efficiency.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (style guidelines, accuracy, testability, efficiency).
• Deliver projects for Home Infrastructure and ensure engineering quality in the team.
• Work collaboratively with other teams in Home Infrastructure across different locations to deliver projects.
• Mentor junior team members in ramping up in the space.
