Team Leader (Java / Kotlin) - Recommendations Team

Join the Recommendation team at Allegro, working on building tools for recommendations on one of the most visible products on the platform. The team collaborates closely with the Machine Learning team to create the best experience for customers. The role involves a hybrid work model based in Warsaw with flexible working hours.

• Experience in leading a team (Java/Kotlin and/or Scala) as a Tech Lead or Team Leader
• Active coding and eagerness to maintain technical expertise
• Strong knowledge of engineering best practices including testing, CI/CD, and scalable architecture
• Experience with high-traffic distributed systems and data engineering
• Proficiency in English (B2+)

Nice to have:

• Experience with Machine Learning
• Familiarity with GCP data engineering tools: BigQuery, Cloud Composer, Dataproc

• Lead the development team (5-7 members) ensuring accurate, scalable, and reliable delivery predictions
• Provide technical leadership including mentoring, code reviews, and ensuring high code quality
• Design and implement key systems using Scala, Java/Kotlin, Python, and stacks such as Spring Boot, Apache Pekko, Apache Spark, Google Cloud Platform
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data science, data engineering, analytics, UX, and operations
• Ensure high quality through clean code, code review, TDD, and CI/CD practices
• Spend 20-50% of time on technical work such as coding, code reviews, and architecture
• Bridge technical and business perspectives
