Engineering Manager - Platform

At GOG, the mission is to make games live forever by providing seamless, modern experiences that resonate with players while preserving GOG's identity. The Platform Engineering team enables the entire organisation to build, ship, and operate software effectively and reliably at scale. This role involves people leadership, delivery ownership, vendor coordination, and translating long-term technical strategy into executable plans supporting business goals.

• Proven experience as a Platform Engineering Manager, IT Operations Manager, or similar, leading delivery-focused engineering teams for at least 4 years
• Experience managing infrastructure powering large-scale online services, ideally global systems
• Strong people leadership style combined with pragmatic execution
• Comfortable managing teams working on complex, long-lived technical systems
• Ability to collaborate effectively with senior engineers and technical leaders
• Understanding of modern engineering practices, DevOps/SRE principles, and platform engineering concepts
• Clear communication skills across all levels from engineers to senior leadership

Nice to have:

• Experience with cloud and hybrid (cloud & on-prem) infrastructure and migration to cloud
• Experience with Kubernetes, RabbitMQ, Redis, Elasticsearch, MySQL, Varnish (or similar technologies)

Leadership & Team Management:

• Lead, support, and grow engineering teams with a focus on people development, motivation, and sustainable delivery
• Build a culture of ownership, trust, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• Conduct regular 1:1s, provide honest feedback, support career growth, and address performance issues
• Ensure healthy team dynamics and effective collaboration

Delivery & Execution:

• Own delivery across teams, ensuring clear priorities, realistic planning, and predictable outcomes
• Manage and refine prioritisation across infrastructure, operational, and enablement initiatives
• Surface and manage risks, technical debt, and delivery issues proactively
• Use data (e.g., DORA metrics, operational signals, delivery predictability) to guide decisions and improvements

Technical & Strategic Alignment:

• Partner with senior engineers and Tech Leads to support platform modernisation and cloud migration
• Evolve shared infrastructure, CI/CD, and operational tooling
• Establish and promote architectural standards and best practices
• Act as a bridge between strategic technical direction and day-to-day execution
• Ensure platform work aligns with business goals and delivers value to development teams
• Collaborate and negotiate with external vendors and technology partners
• Own and manage the technology budget
