Java Software Engineer III, File Systems

The Content Capabilities team is tasked with supporting the Box Content Cloud's next 10x wave of growth by building innovative platform capabilities to scale to millions of users.

• 3+ years of professional software development experience building high-scale services.
• Strong proficiency in Java.
• Experience designing, building, and deploying high quality software.
• Ability to solve complex technical problems using data-driven solutions.
• Ownership mindset and strong team interaction skills.

Bonus points:

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform and/or Amazon Web Services.
• Experience with message queues and/or streaming platforms (e.g., Google Pub/Sub, Apache Kafka).
• Experience building, deploying, and operating microservices on Kubernetes.

• Work closely with engineering leadership to develop strategies for evolving the platform to its next generation.
• Collaborate with product management to refine requirements, break down complex projects into deliverable units, and lead the effort.
• Design and implement scalable services focusing on reliability, observability, operability, and efficiency.
• Continually improve the current code base and infrastructure patterns.
• Work with technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, BigTable, Elasticsearch, Spark, and Istio.
• Mentor new engineers and interns, contributing to team growth and development.
• Participate in on-call rotation to respond to and triage issues.
