Software Engineer II

Zendesk is a company that builds software to improve customer service experiences, powering billions of conversations with well-known brands. The role is part of the Messaging Experience engineering teams, focusing on backend services supporting mobile and Web Widget products.

• Understanding and experience with backend technologies.
• Experience with Ruby on Rails, React, and microservices architecture.
• Experience designing and implementing service-oriented applications.
• Experience with relational database management systems and SQL.
• Ambition and motivation to understand complex systems and decompose requirements.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

• Experience with TypeScript.

• Participate in code reviews and pair programming to maintain code quality.
• Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and fix defects.
• Contribute to technical documentation and specifications.
• Lead and manage the full lifecycle of features from conception to maintenance.
• Identify technical debt and inefficiencies, propose and implement sustainable solutions.
• Work with engineering leadership to foster a collaborative and sustainable engineering environment.
• Participate in feature discovery with Product and engineering teams.
• Lead responsibility for all levels of testing, including unit, integration, system, and acceptance testing.

• This role requires attendance at the local office part of the week; specific schedule determined by the hiring manager.
