Software Engineer, Performance, Reliability, Observability, PhD, Early Careers

Google's software engineers develop next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Their products handle information at massive scale and extend beyond web search. Engineers work on projects critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as the business evolves. The Google Cloud Performance, Reliability, and Observability team develops unified debugging, profiling, and analytics tools, including dashboards and cross-component system behavior analysis. They explore machine learning options to automate anomaly detection in Google Cloud control plane systems. Google Cloud delivers enterprise-grade solutions leveraging cutting-edge technology to customers in more than 200 countries and territories, enabling growth and solving critical business problems.

• PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
• 2 years of experience with software development using SQL and advanced algorithms.
• 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.

Nice to have:

• 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
• Experience developing accessible technologies.
• Experience with one or more of the following: data analysis, big data, f1-sql, log analysis, machine learning.

• Write product or system development code.
• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
• Contribute to further development of automations and tooling.
• Collaborate on performance and reliability issues involving massive amounts of data and information.
• Work with customers (e.g., Google Compute Engine and other Google Cloud teams) to understand requirements, debug problems, and anticipate needs.
