Software Engineer Manager, Device Lifecycle Efficiency

The role is within Google's Platforms and Ecosystems product area, which encompasses various computing software platforms across environments such as desktop, mobile, and applications. The team develops backend systems and frontends for managing hardware device lifecycles, used internally and by external partners. The position involves leading the Device Lifecycle Efficiency team responsible for hardware processes from concept to end-of-life, supporting ChromeOS based on Android.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 3 years of experience with full stack development including back-end (Java, Python, Golang, C++) and front-end (JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS).
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
• 2 years of experience in people management or team leadership.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 3 years of experience working in a structured organization.
• Experience working in an organization that produces a hardware product.
• Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and across teams to deliver solutions.

• Set and communicate team priorities supporting broader organizational goals.
• Align strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams.
• Set clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role.
• Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance, development, and provide feedback and coaching.
• Develop mid-term technical goals and roadmaps for multiple teams.
• Evolve roadmaps to meet future requirements and infrastructure needs.
• Design, guide, and vet system designs within the broader area.
• Write product or system development code to solve ambiguous problems.
• Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices.
