Engineering Manager - Embedded Linux Systems

The company invents, develops, and delivers technologies for consumer electronics, connected cars, and digital content titles, powering renowned consumer brands such as DTS®, HD Radio™, and TiVo®. The role focuses on Linux and Android-based browsing solutions for Smart TVs and set-top boxes.

• Hands-on experience managing a team and leading projects from start to finish.
• 8+ years of experience in an engineering role, with 2+ years in a leadership capacity.
• Experience building applications for Linux-based operating systems, ideally for embedded systems, and Linux kernel customization.
• Deep knowledge of software design patterns, architectures, and best practices.
• Strong understanding of quality assurance principles, methodologies, and practices in software development.
• Experience with project and delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence, Gerrit, Jenkins, and CI/CD.
• Experience with Yocto Linux distribution is a significant plus.
• Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment and manage tasks from various sources.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

• Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of a highly secure and deployable operating system across various production lines.
• Lead and mentor a team of engineering professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Own the system image creation framework domain for the operating system for Smart TVs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align system scalability initiatives with organizational priorities.
• Evaluate and implement new tools and technologies to improve performance while maintaining system robustness.
• Optimize the image creation workflow to boost development activities.
• Report on system scalability, deployment, incident trends, and team KPIs to leadership.
• Collaborate with corporate security & compliance teams and partners to implement best practices in system scalability.
• Prioritize and execute project work to help achieve team goals.
• Stay updated on the latest developments in relevant technologies, equipment, and systems.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions to enhance system scalability and performance.
• Support R&D prototypes and demo initiatives.
• Be self-reliant, proactive, and willing to share knowledge with peers.
