Senior Java Engineer, Document App

At PandaDoc, we build a platform that helps teams create, send, track, and e-sign proposals, contracts, and other documents. The company has a global reach with over $100 million in annual recurring revenue as of 2024. The Engineering team consists of around 250 members. The Document App Track focuses on building and maintaining backend services for document import and export at scale, ensuring system reliability and scalability.

• 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer.
• Experience working with production systems, including on-call responsibilities.
• Strong experience with Java 17/21 and Spring Boot 3.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture, distributed systems, and asynchronous communication using Kafka.
• Experience with relational databases, SQL, and performance optimization, ideally PostgreSQL.
• Good knowledge of testing practices including JUnit and automated testing.
• Strong system design and problem-solving skills.
• Experience across the full development lifecycle from design to deployment and monitoring.
• Ability to stay calm and effective during incident handling.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in English (written and spoken).

• Design, build, test, and deliver features to production as part of a 5-person team.
• Maintain production service stability and react to alerts and incidents.
• Address scale-related technical problems in distributed systems.
• Identify and resolve systematic issues to maintain low time-to-change with high confidence.
• Work on integrating AI-powered features in collaboration with AI teams.
• Participate in team activities such as code review, on-call rotation, planning, PBR, retrospectives, and daily standups.
• Collaborate with the broader track-level team consisting of 5 teams.
