Wymagania

  • Solid experience in developing applications on mainframe systems, ideally IBM z/OS.
  • Strong knowledge of COBOL and/or PL/I, including maintenance and enhancement of existing applications.
  • Hands-on experience with mainframe technologies such as JCL, DB2, CICS, CTG, IMS, or comparable components.
  • Experience or interest in Java development and modern frameworks.
  • Knowledge of legacy modernization, especially COBOL-to-Java transformation.
  • Understanding of system architectures and their integration into modern IT landscapes.
  • Experience with version control, build, and deployment processes.
  • Analytical skills for evaluating applications and system landscapes.
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies, agile or traditional.
  • Experience in creating technical documentation and test procedures.
  • German language proficiency at least C1 level.
  • English language proficiency at least B2 level.

Obowiązki

Developing:

  • Design and enhance applications on the mainframe, for example in COBOL or PL/I.
  • Implement new business requirements into existing systems while ensuring seamless integration into established system landscapes.

Maintaining:

  • Continuously improve and stabilize existing mainframe applications.
  • Analyze issues in live operations, resolve errors, and optimize programs for performance and reliability.

Modernizing:

  • Analyze legacy applications as part of modernization initiatives.
  • Contribute to transforming and evolving existing systems toward future-ready architectures.

Migrating:

  • Migrate COBOL-based applications to modern technologies such as Java.
  • Adapt and refactor program logic for new target platforms, ensuring functional equivalence after migration.

Ensuring quality:

  • Execute tests and document results.
  • Maintain clear documentation of applications, changes, and migration steps.
  • Support the creation of technical concepts.

Collaborating:

  • Work closely with business departments, architects, and developers.
  • Contribute to project teams focused on further development and modernization of the system landscape.
