Lead Cloud Engineer

Cloud Unit is building an enterprise grade Infrastructure Operations Platform named VOPs to support facilitation of most complex IT infrastructure operations for all IT teams at Bayer globally.

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent practical experience as an IT engineer.
• At least 6 years of experience in Azure (other clouds will be a plus).
• Proficiency in IT Architecture & design: specifically in infrastructure automation, provisioning and maintenance.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues effectively, even under pressure.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform) and strong proficiency in Python.
• Experience with Linux command line tools and shell scripting.
• Experience with building IT systems in regulated environments.
• Knowledge of CI/CD processes and experience in building and deploying integration solutions (Azure DevOps, GitHub Repos, and GitHub Actions).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with API management and/or design is appreciated.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment, respecting diverse perspectives and fostering teamwork.
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written.

Planning and Design:

• Join the team responsible for planning and running the VOPs platform.

Leadership:

• Mentor a team of engineers, providing guidance and support in the implementation of cloud solutions.

Collaboration with Stakeholders:

• Work closely with Squad Leads and other stakeholders to understand requirements and align integration strategies with business goals.

Technical Oversight:

• Ensure that solutions are scalable, reliable, maintainable and secure adhering to best practices in IT architecture and in-line with Bayer’s strategy.

Documentation and Standards:

• Create, maintain & review comprehensive documentation for processes, standards, and best practices.

Intercultural Communication:

• Foster an environment of open communication and collaboration among diverse teams across different geographical locations.
