Backend Software Engineer | Node.js | Remote

Your skills and experience:

• 4+ years of experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL or MySQL in production.
• Solid understanding and experience building REST APIs.
• Experience with message queues such as RabbitMQ, BullMQ, or GCP PubSub.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and containerization.
• Experience with observability tools like Grafana or similar.
• Testing mindset with experience in unit and integration testing (Jest, Mocha, or similar).
• Comfortable with SQL and at least one ORM (Sequelize, TypeORM, Prisma, or similar), and Redis.
• Proficient with Git and collaborative version control.
• Self-starter mentality with ownership and effective communication skills.

Nice to have:

• Exposure to microservices architecture.
• Experience in performance monitoring and optimization.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with AI tools and LLM providers.
• Terraform experience.

Your day-to-day:

• Build the engine behind Horizons by designing and developing backend systems and APIs using Node.js.
• Take ownership of backend features and services, making architectural decisions with guidance from senior engineers.
• Optimize API performance, database operations, and system scalability.
• Integrate third-party APIs and implement data storage solutions.
• Write tested, documented, and scalable code that creates business value.
• Collaborate closely with frontend developers, product managers, and other engineers.
• Receive mentorship on system design, performance optimization, and backend best practices to grow from mid-level to senior engineer.
