Backend Developer

Autopay Global is the newest member of the Autopay family — a project created to bring advanced payment integration and payment data technologies to international markets. The company builds solutions that connect with local PSPs, support multi-currency flows, and ensure compliance with regional regulations.

• At least 6 years of experience as a backend developer
• Exposure to payments engineering including transaction lifecycle, settlement, and reconciliation
• Strong backend engineering track record building microservices in Java
• Solid understanding of event-driven architecture (Kafka, queues, topics), reactive patterns, at-least-once delivery, and idempotency
• Fluency in relational databases (ideally PostgreSQL), data modelling, SQL, migrations (preferably Flyway), and query optimization
• Hands-on experience deploying, running, and troubleshooting applications in Kubernetes (preferably EKS) and AWS tools (X-Ray, CloudWatch, Open/Telemetry)
• Familiarity with GitOps and CI/CD (GitLab CI/CD, Flux CD)
• API Gateway experience including routing, policies, versioning, authentication, and rate limiting
• Proven experience working in Scrum teams
• Growth mindset and willingness to adopt new technologies (e.g., GenAI-assisted coding)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of Python and tooling
• Experience with observability platforms (Dynatrace, Datadog, New Relic)
• Understanding of Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions
• Familiarity with Mulesoft Anypoint Platform

• Design, code, test, and ship Java microservices including domain logic, workflows/state machines, adapters, and stream processors powering payment flows
• Use contract-first development (OpenAPI) to build a versioned, API-first service layer compatible with an API Gateway
• Create agentic-ready endpoints that are asynchronous where applicable, highly performant, and robust
• Implement event-driven architecture with Kafka: topic design, message contracts, retries/DLQs, ordering, idempotent consumers, and replay handling
• Build PostgreSQL persistence: schema design, migrations, constraints, indexing, tuning, and high-volume data integrity
• Deploy and operate services on AWS and Kubernetes, provisioning with Terraform and delivering through CI/CD
• Implement observability by default including metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, and alerting integrated with AWS-centric monitoring
