Senior Scala Developer (with Hadoop stack)

Jit Team is a Polish company employing over 700 experienced experts, creating highly specialised teams for clients worldwide. They have a long-term partnership with a leading financial group in the Nordic countries, engaging over 200 personnel in more than 60 projects for this Norwegian financial services provider. The client emphasizes Scandinavian culture, work-life balance, and international teams with English language exposure.

• Strong programming experience in Scala (minimum 3 years)
• Proven hands-on experience with Apache Spark for batch and distributed data processing
• Solid understanding of Hadoop ecosystem components (YARN, Sqoop, Hive, Oozie, Impala, MapReduce)
• Experience with Linux Shell scripting and automation
• Proficiency in SQL and working with large, complex datasets
• Knowledge of version control and CI/CD tools (Git, Jenkins, Bamboo, Ansible, etc.)
• Good understanding of data modeling, performance tuning, and data lifecycle management
• Strong problem-solving skills, ownership mindset, and ability to work in a collaborative team environment

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with Java, Flink, Kafka, and streaming data pipelines
• Experience with SAFe Agile methodology and data analysis techniques
• Experience with functional programming techniques and principles in Scala
• Familiarity with Data Analysis

• Design, develop, and maintain data processing pipelines using Hadoop and Spark ecosystems
• Implement and optimize ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes for large volumes of financial data
• Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and other developers to deliver high-quality, production-ready data solutions
• Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and security across distributed data systems
• Participate in code reviews, contribute to continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), and maintain development best practices
• Support and troubleshoot Big Data applications running in a multi-cluster environment (e.g., YARN, EMR)
• Work in an Agile (SAFe) team environment, participating in sprints, planning, and retrospectives
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and data platform architecture
