Manager (Data Science), RC AI & Analytics

Regulatory Compliance ensures adherence to applicable regulations and standards by setting policies which cover HSBC’s regulatory requirements and mitigate conduct and reputational risk issues. The team monitors how Global Businesses and Functions manage their responsibilities with regard to complying with the regulations and helps resolve compliance deficiencies.

• University degree in technology, data analytics, or related discipline, or relevant work experience in computer or Data Science.
• Understanding of Regulatory Compliance, risks, and direct experience deploying controls and analytics to manage those risks.
• Experience in Financial Services, preferably within a tier one bank, or related industry.
• Fair understanding of applied mathematics, statistics, data science principles, and advanced computing (machine learning, modelling, NLP, and Generative AI).
• Moderate experience working within the Hadoop ecosystem.
• Strong technical skills in analytical languages such as Python and SQL.
• Specific knowledge of GCP, AWS, Azure, Spark, and/or graph theory is an advantage.
• Medium level understanding of data and architecture concepts including cloud, ETL, Ontology, and Data Modelling.
• Experience using GIT, PowerPoint, and Advanced Excel.

• Establish the function as a valued commodity to assist in bank's response to compliance risk.
• Operate within a continually changing environment where priorities and objectives can change.
• Keep the bank compliant and customers' data safe amid changing data sharing legislation.
• Be at the leading edge of new technical skill sets and work with emerging technologies.
• Identify Compliance related models as classified by Group Model Risk standards and ensure development and management according to these standards.
• Implement and oversee appropriate controls and governance for analytical products or services classified as non-models.
• Provide timely management and remedial action to any risks, issues, or findings related to responsibilities.
• Partner with stakeholders within IT and Product management to deliver innovative analytical solutions.
• Work with control functions, Audit, and Independent Model Review to ensure effective operation of the control framework, including sharing best practices and thematic read across.
