Technical Lead Manager, Trip Platform

Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company focused on building the Waymo Driver, the world's most experienced autonomous driver, to improve mobility access and save lives. The Trip Platform team builds Waymo's core trip platform supporting ride-hailing and delivery use cases for both first-party and third-party B2B partners.

• BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years of experience programming in backend coding languages.
• 2+ years of people management experience.
• Experience as a technical leader.
• Experience building backend applications and APIs.

We prefer:

• Experience in C++.
• MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years experience developing low latency, large-scale, user-facing distributed systems.
• Domain knowledge in transportation, mobility, and/or autonomous vehicle industries.

• Lead a team of 5-6 junior and senior engineers to implement and scale Waymo's core trip platform supporting multiple high-growth use cases including ride-hailing and delivery.
• Design and implement partner-facing API services for customer-hailing scenarios, including managing trip requests, calculating pickup and ride times, and pricing rides.
• Collaborate with external partners to build Waymo experiences on third-party platforms.
• Develop expertise in and utilize Google technologies such as OnePlatform API, Borg, Spanner, Flume, and custom-built systems.
